Leaky Gut Syndrome

Leaky Gut Syndrome

Leaky gut syndrome, or intestinal permeability, is a controversial condition characterized by increased permeability of the intestinal lining. This may allow bacteria, toxins, and undigested food particles to pass through the intestinal wall and into the bloodstream, triggering an immune response. Though not recognized as a formal medical diagnosis by all experts, leaky gut is associated with various health issues, including inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, and autoimmune disorders. Factors such as chronic stress, poor diet, excessive alcohol consumption, and certain medications may contribute to its development. Treatment often involves dietary changes, probiotics, and addressing underlying health conditions.
